Wii Fit

While at Value Village, looking for games, I have occasionally seen Wii Fit Balance Boards but I could never convince myself to risk it for the $20 that they were asking. The last time I was there however they had a pair of them for $9.99 each so I figured that I would give it a try. I bought them both.

At home, with replacing the batteries, they both seemed to light up so I popped into PnP Games and bought a Wii Fit game for another $6. When I loaded it this morning, they both worked fine. I updated my profile, and it told me I weighed 301 pounds and that my BMI was obese for height. It also promptly updated my Mii to a more bloated version of myself.

I did a few of the balance exercises to start, but now I can work away at it.

237

On one of the sites I hang out at, the passing of Mr Wizard came up and how with Mr Rogers gone, except for Bill Nye, there really isn't anyone to replace him for the kids.
See, I grew up in Canada. I have only vague memories of Mr Wizard and I never really watched Bill Nye. Who I do remember is Julius Sumner Miller - the professor from the Hilarious House of Frightenstein. He has also left us, but can be found on you tube and some reruns.

On a side note, even with my showing in the ice cream eating contest at work, where I finished 6 frozen dixie cups in 3 minutes, (I was on a pace for 5 minutes but they decided to shorten it after about 2 minutes) I am still down to 237 lbs. It makes me think the 247 was an aberration but we'll see how that survives the Red River Ex this weekend.

247

The kids and I had a doctor's appointment yesterday - nothing special, just an ordinary check up. We're all doing basically well.

The surprise for me was that my weight has gone up to 247 lbs in the last few months. I know I was about 230 sometime after Christmas. Now, I'm just shy of 6'2", so it doesn't look as heavy on me as it might, but it's certainly there around the middle. It's definately something I'm going to have to work steadily at to bring back down to a more manageable level.

In high school, I was a constant 150 for several years thanks mainly to being relatively active and somewhat hyperthyroidial. This was also my formative years for my eating habits, unfortunately. After having radiaoactive iodine treatments for my thyroid, my weight rocked back and forth between 150 and 200 before settling in at a solid 180.

After a few years of marriage, I wanted to se if I could get up to 200 pounds. So, with a little increase in portion size I was able to get over 200 - up to 220 in fact. I've been between 220 and 230 for a couple of years now, and was thinking about trying to work it down to 200 or so. The 247 was a bit of a shock though.

I had already picked up a skipping rope a few weeks ago and have started trying to get the coordination for that up but the near constant raining this week has put a bit of a damper on some of my plans. I'll definately have to see about doing some more serious walking like I used to back in the day.

I'll keep you posted.
