I was able to prime a bunch of the figures I have from Don’t Look Back. I had also bought a bunch of STLs from Black Site Studios last year.  I was finally able to get some of them printed and primed.  They are moving up on my painting list.  I am currently finishing off the Borg from Star Trek Away Missions.  They cut in front of the Orc Bloodbowl team that has been sitting on my painting table since 2024.

Figure Painting Total - January 2026

 I was able to get the last  copy of Warhammer Quest Cursed City at my local Warhammer store.  I had been going back and forth about it, as most of the figures look very cool (except for the zombies), but it is set in the Age of Sigmar instead of the Old World, and I have heard that it was a bit grindy.  I did come in to some extra money at the end of last year so I decided to get this while Dark Water was coming out.  That one I can pass on. 

I’m still going to get the Blood Bowl Season Three, as well as preparing for the 11th edition 40K that is expected to come out this summer.

Figure Painting Total - December 2025

 I really didn’t buy any big miniature sets last year.  I did get a bunch of board games with figures that should be painted.  The 28 Frostgrave figures and 32 figures for Star Trek Away Missions are the largest groupings I had picked up.  I also got another SSU Recovery Mech for Dust Tactics earlier this year that I don’t seem to have mentioned yet.

This year will be a bigger year.  There is a new Blood Bowl set, and there should be a new edition of Warhammer 40K.  The Fallout Factions also seems mighty tempting.

 

I got a shockingly small amount of figures painted this year.  I spent some spare time working on some costumes, and some of my holidays on travel, so that ate up a bit.  Plus I played a lot more Intellivision games which ate up a bunch of spare time.  But mostly it was just lack of motivation.  I have had my Blood Bowl Orc team on the table for almost the whole year and only started on them.  I seem to be getting inspired by reading the 40K Psychic Awakenings books, so we will see if I can take that to make some better progress  in 2026.  Plus the Star Trek Away Missions, Marvel United, and Unmatched boardgames have much smaller figure sets to complete.

 Black Site Studios had a bit of a sale so I picked up some figures.  I was hoping to get Horror Pack D but it was out of stock when I ordered.  The shipping is currently quite high, so I only got the following two sets.  I will see what is available when then do their Thanksgiving day sale and might get more.

 

I started painting my Blood Bowl Orcs, but did not make enough headway to finish them.  I want to assemble the Blood Bowl Goblins and paint them up at the same time since they use a lot of the same colors.  I have a bit of holidays at the end of October and beginning of November so I hope to get some painting done before the snow falls. 

 

I have picked up some of the 40K codices for the eighth through tenth editions.  This gets me thinking about assembling and painting a few of the Combat Patrols from the last three edition starter sets.  We’ll see if I can convert that from ambition to actually getting stuff painted.

While on our way back from Vancouver, we stopped in to the Sentry Box.  I was very tempted by the Silver Bayonet forces, and the Hairfoot Jousting minis.  I did manage to get an older Blood Bowl team, as well as some Frostgrave figures.  

I had picked up the Model-in-a-month figure from Warhammer, and had built, primed, and base coated it before we left.  I stayed up late when we got back on the Friday and finished it in time to take it in for August 30.

 Even though I haven’t gotten any impetus to paint yet, I was able to fill another gap in my Dust Tactics squads.  With this, that is the last of the Allies that I am chasing down.  I might get more if I get a great deal, especially another Pelican, but this was the last one I felt I needed.  I am still looking for another Natalya/Nadya/Natasha as well as possibly a helicopter for the SSU.  I am also looking for the Gorilla Support Squad for the Axis, as well as another walker and Horten.  If I can find any of the bunkers reasonably, I would get those as well. 

While I am interested in the Cthulhu forces, the Mercenaries, and the Imperial Japan forces, they never seem to come up for cheap.  I might need to wait until they possible get reprinted, which might now take longer than ever.

 I preordered the new “cursed crate” expansion for Don’t Look Back, with extra figures for the Northwoods Killers packs.  But I did not pick up anything new otherwise.

I was able to finish of the Allies side of the Dust Tactics original core.  I’m working on the Axis side now.  Then I will do the mechs.  I also have to make an insert for the figures as well.

 I was finally able to get a Totenmeister for Dust Tactics in the Axis Hero pack.  That was the last one that I really wanted.  I’m also still looking for an Allied Grim Reapers, an Axis Gorilla Support Squad, and some extra SSU KV47s (1 regular, and 1 support).  I’d love to get the Cthulhu Mythos, IJN, and maybe some Mercs as well, if I can find them at a decent price.  For Blood Bowl, I already have a Treeman, and a Blitz Bowl set of Halflings, so I should be able to field a decently bad Halfling team.

 

I finally put in some time and finished a few more figures.  I worked a bit more at the Allied forces from the Dust Tactics Core set.  The Axis side is mostly in black, so that should be quicker to finish.

 I picked up the rest of the Aliens figures from GaleForce 9.  The USCM figures will be tricky with all of the camo, but the aliens and assets should be pretty basic paint jobs.  I placed an order for some more Starship Troopers figures and bugs direct from the new manufacturer.  If it goes well, I may pick up some more but I want to dig out the faction books first to see how the forces break down.

Figure Painting Total - April 2024

 Even though the gameplay on Another Glorious Day in the Corp from GaleForce 9 didn’t excite me from what I’ve seen, the figures did catch my eye.  I must not have been the only one as they had released the figures from the game and its expansions separately.  So I picked them up to use in upgrading my old Aliens board game from Leading Edge.  I also got the missing crates and tank traps from the Dust core set, as well as some dice and figures.  I thought it might be another squad, and it is almost a full squad of Allied combat rangers, with the bazooka soldier swapped out for another figure from a different squad. I may end up using them for objectives or casualties, or even as generic figures for other skirmish games.

I spent most of the hobby time for this month on assembling the Green Lantern Corps and Teen Titan sets from last month.  I was able to get a few figures across the finish line – my first for the year.

 I got a Dust Tactics Core set.  It is missing the dice, tank traps, and containers, but I have extras of those from the Revised Core.  The figures are already prepainted but I will want to go back and repaint them so that they will match the colors I will be painting the rest of my Dust forces.

I was able to prime the Don’t Look Back figures from last year, and have actually started painting some of the queue, as well as repainting some of the Dust Core.

 I ended up losing momentum partly into this year when I cleaned up my basement set up.  While it was time to clean it up, not having the paints out to add a quick step really dampened my enthusiasm for painting.

My big order from Black Site Studios came in with the new figures from the updated set.  With the special relaunch order, I ended up getting a bunch of extras above the new heroes and killers.  I also got The Goonies for Christmas.  I wasn’t sure about the Unmatched Adventures, but we picked that up as well. 

I was finally able to play Dust Tactics, and Blitz Ball.  We’ll see if this translates into added interest in painting again for the new year.

I was finally able to get some zombies and gorilla for Dust Tactics.  Which was the whole reason I wanted to get into the game in the first place.

My package from BlackSite studios finally showed up.  It had been delivered to the wrong address and when whoever got it opened it, they realized it wasn’t for them and they dropped it off on our doorstep.

I didn’t get anything painted yet, but did pick up the new model in the month from Games Workshop, or Warhammer as they now like to be called.
