Heroclix Overview 2018
I didn’t really buy much in the way of Heroclix last year. I bought a few of them but didn’t really keep up with all of the Fast Forces/Starter sets that came out. I didn’t really get any of the new sets again this year, but did get a few figures to use as substitutes for DC/Marvel Universe. I was going to pick up a few more older figures but the dollar did not improve, and I ended up using my figure money on Blood Bowl and DC Universe figures instead.
I did not complete any more sets this year. I do plan on continuing to complete the older WizKids sets, even if it to be able to box them up and put them away.
Having not picked up any new figures last year, I am as close now as I was last year on Ultimates (0+3), Mutant Mayhem (3+2), Legacy (0+3), Origin (4+0), Mutations & Monsters (1/3), Crisis (0/2), Hammer of Thor (3/8), Brave and Bold (8/7) and Batman Classic TV (3), and TMNT (3+3).
I still need Spectre, both green Fooms, both of the Phoenixes, and the Starro. I need the original Manhattan and Galactus but will not be pursuing them further.
NECA seems to be winding down. I only have 5 sets listed for in 2018, none of which I got figures for. I didn’t even get all of the Fast Forces sets.
Needing well over 2500 figures, it is even more apparent that I will not reach this goal. If I hit the lottery, I will give it a solid effort but even then, the storage would be a huge hurdle.
The stat numbers are now beyond calculations.
From this point, I am not even looking to keep up with starters. I will still try to complete some of these sets even if it so I can pack them away. The numbers from the old sets are more reasonable - I need 21 figures from the old WizKids sets (8 REV and 13 Uniques). I might still get a few Necas as available, especially for proxies for others games, and might pick up some of the smaller Gravity Feed sets, and the first few Neca sets.

Heroclix Overview 2017
I kept up with the Fast Forces/Starter sets another year. I didn’t get any of the new sets with the exception of a few western figures from Elseworlds to use for some western skirmish games. The dollar wasn’t too bad, I didn’t start picking up any of the new 40K sets, but did pick up a lot of the Marvel and DC Universe Miniature figures as well as a bunch of the Batman miniature game from Knight Models.
I did pick up some Heroclix in batches and was able to complete three more old sets and two newer ones. I finished Armor Wars, Secret Invasion, Arkham Asylum, Kick-Ass 2, and AVX – Avengers VS X-Men.
I continued my focus on completing the older WizKids sets.
With the figures I’ve picked up, I am now close on Ultimates (0+3), Mutant Mayhem (3+2), Legacy (0+3), Origin (4+0), Mutations & Monsters (1/3), Crisis (0/2), Hammer of Thor (3/8), Brave and Bold (8/7) and Batman Classic TV (3), and TMNT (3+3).
I didn’t get any of the older larger figures. My line on the Foom (with pants) did not pan out. I still need Spectre, both green Fooms, and both of the Phoenixes, as well as the original Manhattan and Galactus. I did pick up the Ameridroid.
Neca only put out another 8 sets in 2017, and another 6 Fast Forces sets. I didn’t collect any of these sets. I still kept up with the Fast Forces sets.
I now need an unreachable 2262 heroclix figures. Even winning the lottery, that would be a real challenge to get. I now need 1265 Marvel figures and 900 DC figures. My REV total is now 1782 and my Unique/SuperRare total is 454 plus 26 Giant figures and 13 Team bases.
But I have come to an acceptance of it. Not being concerned about completing all the Neca sets of which I need 2241 figures (1774 REV and 441 Super Rares) and focusing on completing the old WizKids sets of which I now only need 21 figures (8 REV and 13 Uniques). I will still get a few Necas as available especially the Undead set, and then switch to some of the smaller Gravity Feed sets.
That should free up some money for Games Workshop sets.

Heroclix overview 2016
I had another year of keeping up with the Fast Forces/Starter sets. I was even able to pick up the few sets that I had missed along the way. The only new set I picked up was the TMNT gravity feed – of which I got most of the set. While the dollar wasn’t great, I was mostly caught up with Warhammer 40K codices so I filled in some gaps from Troll and Toad. I was able to complete three more old sets – Sinister, Supernova, and Batman Alpha. I picked up some maps, and filled in a few more gaps.
At the beginning of the year I focused more on completing some of the older WizKids sets. I have decided that I will focus on completing the nine WizKids sets I have left, and a select few of Neca sets. I’ll still keep up on the starters and fast forces sets. If the dollar improves and I get a good chance, I will even try to get of the bigger figures I am missing.
I was finally able to get an AVX – X-men set, and I picked up an Avengers: Civil War set to confirm I have one. I also picked up the AVX OP kit with the Phoenix fragments. I’ll probably try to complete the rest of that set, as well as the few remaining figures I need from Batman Classic TV, and TMNT. I’ll even work away at the first few Neca sets, and maybe some of the smaller gravity feed sets.
With the figures I’ve picked up, I am now close on Ultimates (0+3), Mutant Mayhem (3+2), Legacy (0+4), Armor Wars (3+0), Origin (4+0), Mutations & Monsters (1/5), Crisis (0/5), Secret Invasion (0/1), Arkham Asylum (0/3), Hammer of Thor (3/8), Brave and Bold (8/7) and Batman Classic TV (5), and TMNT (4+3).
I still need the older larger figures - Spectre, both green Fooms, and both of the Phoenixes as well as the original Manhattan and Galactus but have been picking up a lot of the new individual bigger figures and sets. I picked up the Ant Man boxed set and have a line on the Foom (with pants).
Neca only put out another 5 sets in 2016, and another 5 Fast Forces sets. I only collected one of these sets, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was able to keep up with the Fast Forces sets – I still need to pick up the last one from December – TMNT – Heroes in a Half Shell. I did pick up the TMNT big boxed starter which was on top of the 5 sets above.
I now need 1764 heroclix figures. That still seems like an incredible amount. I now need 1020 Marvel figures and 737 DC figures. My REV total is now 1378 and my Unique/SuperRare total is 360 plus 26 Giant figures and 13 Team bases. But I have come to an acceptance of it. I am less interested in completing all the Neca sets of which I need 1730 figures (1367 REV and 337 Super rares) and am going to focus on completing the WizKids sets of which I only need 34 figures (11 REV and 23 Uniques). I will still get a few Necas as available, and then switch to some of the smaller Gravity Feed sets.
Strikezone remains a source and I have completed a lot of the older ones from Troll and Toad. My goal for this year is to complete 4 of the remaining 9 Wizkids sets and maybe 2 of the Neca sets that I am close to finishing. I will also check a few of the local places to see what I can get.

Heroclix overview 2015
After a few years of trying only to keep up with the Fast Forces/Starters and some of the smaller sets, I actually was able to complete some more old sets -
Fantastic Forces, Collateral Damage, and Avengers. I also completed the Pacific Rim and KA2 gravity feed sets.
I’ve picked up a few figures and am now close on Ultimates (3+4), Mutant Mayhem (3+5), Legacy (3+5), Armor Wars (10+0), Sinister (7+1), Supernova (6+0), Origin (9+0), Mutations & Monsters (1/5), Crisis (0/9), Secret Invasion (0/2), Arkham Asylum (0/5), Hammer of Thor (3/8), Brave and Bold (8/7) and Batman Classic TV (5).
I have all of the current Fast Forces set but I am still missing the AVX – X-Men starter. I still need the older larger figures - Spectre, two Fooms, and both of the Phoenixes as well as the original Manhattan and Galactus but have been picking up a lot of the new individual bigger figures and sets.
I have picked up a few boosters from various sets, and a bit of the gravity feed sets but Neca has churned out another 7 sets in 2013, 5 sets in 2014, and 4 sets in 2015. They do seem to be calming down with the regular sets but they had 17 Fast Forces sets in that time as well as a bunch of special sets and gravity feeds. I am looking forward to the TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) set – I may have to get a brick of that when it comes out later this year.
Right now I need 1570 Heroclix figures. That is an astounding amount. But over half of that was in the last three years. 329 were added in 2013, 268 in 2014, and 257 in 2015. The sets were pretty evenly distributed between Marvel and DC with 9 new Marvel sets and 7 new DC sets. I now need 877 Marvel figures and 693 DC figures. My REV total is now 1190 and my Unique/SuperRare total is 331 plus 36 Giant figures and 13 Team bases. The more interesting number is that I only need 78 WizKids figures (42 REV and 36 Uniques) and 1492 Neca figures (1148 REV and 295 Super Rares).
With Strikezone no longer carrying figures before the additions of cards (Avengers and Justice League) from 2007 and the dollar doing poorly, I’m not sure how much I will be able to work away at these. I’d like to finish another 4 WizKids sets and maybe 2 Neca sets as well as keep up with the Fast Forces sets. I also just got an email from Miniature Market saying that they are blowing out all of their Heroclix so there goes another source.
I was also able to get the Monsterpocalypse Voltron set, and a lot of the 40K codices. I might try to complete some of the Monsterpocalypse figures I am missing. I will have to see if some of the local places have any of the pre-Neca figures to help complete those sets otherwise I might have to go back to checking ebay.

HC buying - finally back to working away at it.
Now that I am pretty caught up on 40K codices, I looked at picking up some Heroclix to complete some of the older sets. I usually keep an eye on Strikezone – as they have HC figures. I use them as a base price when I find figures on ebay or in person - if they are too much out of line, then I don't bother.
I was looking to fill in some of older sets and so I popped over to Strikezone. They were having a big sale on some of the older sets. This was great but it seemed that they were finally blowing out their stock of these older, pre-card sets. So I missed a good chance to get some of the ones I needed.
I was able to finish the KA2 set (except the chase figure), as well as Collateral Damage. I also picked up some more figures from a few of the other sets, bringing me even closer than I was.
I missed it from Strikezone but was able to get the remaining figures I needed to also complete the Pacific Rim set from an dealer on ebay from which I used to buy. This and the KA2 figures were the key ones that I wanted to complete right now. I'll have to start looking on ebay to work away at some of the other older sets.

Neca sets - Pacific Rim and KA2
It seems to
be another year when Neca is pumping out a lot of Heroclix sets. I picked up the Pacific Rim and KA2 starter
sets and need to get the rest of the singles.
Neither of these had really been mentioned on the www.Heroclix.com site.
The Pacific Rim set comes with a Gipsy Danger and a Slattern - not the Knifehead that it shows on the back. Both figures are visible in the package so this is not too much of a concern. Also included is a tiny 3 x 8 map on a four-folded board as well as 32 pogs for tanks, jets, and battleships. These figure seem to be part of the basic 10 figures available in the single figure counter packs. What it is missing is a basic heroclix rulebook explaining any of the special abilities on the dials - instead coming with a very simple rule set to be able to play with the figures given ignoring the special abilities.
I also picked up 6 single figure packs - getting only one duplicate. I now have all the Kaiju and two of the Jaegers - Gipsy Danger and Striker Eureka. I'll probably pick up the remaining 3 figures on the secondary market.
The KA2
starter is a great fit for the Heroclix system – I snapped it up as soon as I
saw it. The 6 figures in the starter are
in addition to the 11 available in single figure counter packs. There are a few interesting things about this
set – mostly having to do with the names.
The set is notably missing Colonel Stars and Stripes (and Eisenhower). I suppose with Jim Carrey’s disillusionment of the violence, he has not allowed his image out. Also missing is Dave’s friend’s Todd in his inverted A**-Kicker costume.
The characters that have names that might be questionable instead are marked with their secret identities. Kick-A** is listed as Dave Lizewski, Mother-F***** is listed as Chris D'Amico, and Night B***** is listed as Miranda Swedlow. Since a big part of the movie involves finding out their secret identities, this makes it a bit odd.
I haven't picked up any single figure packs for KA2 yet but probably will. Any dupes of KA, MF, or NB I can always fix the names or repaint a KA to an AK - using a Battle Guy dial.

Heroclix overview - 2012
While I didn’t achieve many of the goals I left last year, I do feel better about my Heroclix collection. I did get a few packages to start filling some of the gaps in my sets and picked up a few of the LE/single-figure-box sets as well as kept up with the starters and Fast Forces sets. I didn’t pick up any bricks but did get a brick of Batman:Streets of Gotham as well as a few boosters for Christmas. I did manage to complete one set – Justice League. I also picked up most of the Batman Alpha sub set, including the Target exclusive figure, now only needing 4 more to complete it.
In addition to the 4 regular sets that they published, and the single-figure-box sets that went with them, they also churned out another 5 mini-sets as well as eight starters/Fast Forces sets to go with them. That’s too much. Even if I had dedicated much more resources to keeping up I still would be behind.
I’m still close on Ultimates (6+7), Mutant Mayhem (3+7), Legacy (6+11), Fantastic Forces (0+2), Armor Wars (11+1), Collateral Damage (8+0), Supernova (6+0), Origin (9+0), Avengers (0/3), Mutations & Monsters (1/5), Crisis (0/10), Secret Invasion (2/6), Arkham Asylum (0/6), Hammer of Thor (3/8), Brave and Bold (8/7), and Web of Spider-Man (9/11). I’m still working away at Sinister (14+2), DC 75 (33/11), Avengers Movie (17/18), Chaos Wars (38/9), DC 10th (18/0), Marvel 10th (18/0), Batman (47/11/5), and Batman:Streets of Gotham (26/15/3). I still haven’t picked up any of Giant-Size X-Men (45/13/6), Captain America (47/11), Incredible Hulk (36/10), Galactic Guardians (36/10/6), The Dark Knight Rises (29/0), and The New 52 – Justice League (21/0).
Right now, I need 760 figures – 561 REVs and 199 U/SRs. This is almost as many as when I started keeping numbers – back in April of 2007. Any brick purchased would have brought both of these much closer. Counting figures by Wizkids or Neca – 126/634 compared to last year’s number of 155/258 you can see that I made a little progress towards the old figures and see the amount of new figures churned out this year.
I kept up with the starters/Fast Forces sets – managing to find the ones I had missed so all of those are current.
On the large figure side, I still need the Spectre, two Fooms, and both of the Phoenixes as well as the original Manhattan and Galactus. I even picked up some of the maps but still need most of the new maps – although I did get the Helicarrier maps.
That one last LE from Horrorclix still evades me. I’m going to put a bit more effort into finishing that off. I’ve still been looking for another another map from the Cthulhu set.
I’ve got that last ARC-170 to get to ‘complete’ what I want from Star Wars minis. I’ll probably try and get some more Monsterpocalypse figures. I still have to look out for the Voltron set. I am also hoping to fill in the gaps in my Cheapass games as well as pick up a few new games. This will cut into my ‘Heroclix budget’ for 2013.
I’m going to try and keep up with the Fast Forces/starters as well as some of the smaller sets. I’ll try to pick up some of the previous sets as well as some of the figures needed to work at finishing the older sets. I’m hoping to complete at least two more sets as well as keeping the number of figures to under 1000. I'd like to see the number of pre-Neca figures be under 100.

dog days of summer
It looks like this might be one of the last really nice weekends before the weather starts to turn. I should take advantage of it and enjoy the outside – maybe get some fibreglassing done on D3’s ODST helmet.
Instead, we’ll probably be doing a bunch of yard work like closing out the pool and garden. We should burn down a bit more of the branches and rake up more of the crabapples. Add a bit of driving around getting fabric for Gee’s costume and that should eat up the weekend.
I am hoping to squeeze in a bit of time to get to a few of the comic book store for Heroclix though. Maybe even a bit of time to play one of the new games.
I should get in some good time cleaning up my desk and sorting out if there are any parts to keep from the old computers but those might have to wait until mid-October when I get some days off.

Heroclix - Fast Forces
Since NECA has taken over Heroclix, they have made a lot of new sets. They have also made some Gravity Feeds – which are mini sets consisting of single-figure boxes for a few of their releases. They have also made some ‘Fast Forces’ sets which consist of a clamshell containing about 8 figures and a map. Since I love the maps, I’m trying to make sure I get the Fast Forces sets while I can even if I’m not getting the regular sets (yet).
For Christmas, I got the Warriors of Asgard (from Hammer of Thor) and the Battle for Smallville (from Superman). When I tried to get the two sets in between, the local store to us no longer had any. Since Galaxy had let me down, I tried Pendragon Games and Comic Factory IV but they didn’t have the missing sets either.
Before trying online, I gave Maxx Collectibles a call and they did have one of the sets. Since I would have to travel to the other end of the city, I also called face-Off Sportscards. They had both sets in stock so I popped over to see them on the way home and picked up Crimebusters! (from Watchmen) and Green Lantern Corps (from the Green Lantern gravity feed).
So the only one that I am now missing is the newest one Smash! (from the Incredible Hulk set). I’ll probably pick that one up this weekend.
I’m also looking into picking up a few figures from the Gravity Feeds – depending on whether the random factor outweighs the online cost of buying the figures individually.

2011 Heroclix overview
I didn’t pick up much this year – Heroclix-wise. I got a few LEs at the beginning of the year and some of the Fast Forces and the Doctor Manhattan for Christmas. In between, they cranked out another three sets and my numbers only increased. Even though all three sets were Marvel based, I still didn’t pick up any of them.
Again I finished no Heroclix sets. I’m no closer than I was at the start of 2011 but rather farther back due to the new sets.
I’m still close on Ultimates (6+7), Mutant Mayhem (3+9), Legacy (6+11), Fantastic Forces (0+2), Armor Wars (11+1), Collateral Damage (8+1), Supernova (9+0), Avengers (0/3), Justice League (0/3), Mutations & Monsters (1/5), Crisis (0/11), Secret Invasion (2/6), Arkham Asylum (0/6), Hammer of Thor (3/8), Brave and Bold (8/7), and Web of Spider-Man (9/11). I’m still working away at Sinister (18+3) and Origin (23+0). I haven’t picked up any of DC 75 (33/11), Giant-Size X-Men (45/13/6), Captain America (47/11), or Incredible Hulk (36/10).
Right now, I need 413 figures – 274 REVs and 129 U/SRs. This is close to where I was at the start of 2008. Any bricks would have brought both of these much closer. I have also started counting figures needed by Wizkids or Neca – 155/258.
I did manage to get the Dr Manhattan as well as the reprints of the Apocalypse and both Sentinels from Giant-Size X-men. They look like they’re cranking out at least another three sets in 2012. I’m going to try and keep up with the sets, and pick up some of the previous sets as well as some figures to work at finishing the older sets.
I still need the Spectre, two Fooms, and the Phoenixes as well as the original Manhattan and Galactus. I also need all the new maps – from Hammer of Thor onwards. As well, I am going to try and pick up the other Fast Forces sets – which also come with maps.
I still need that one last LE from Horrorclix. I’m going to try to get that to finish that off. If I can, I’d like to get another map from the Cthulhu set.
Where did I spend all my Heroclix money? I picked up more 40K bits – more Tyranids plus a bit of Tau. I also got the entire set of FASA Crimson Skies rules, and some more Babylon 5 Call to Arms books. I picked up a bunch of Arcane Legions and a lot of Tron toy for use at Keycon. I got a bunch more Dr Who mini figures and a few other books and games.
I hope to get more 40K codices – being caught up on the rest of the fourth editions I am missing. I’m still looking for the Babylon 5 Call to Arms and Earth/Minbari War books and some of the Starship Troopers RPG books I am missing. I still want to get that final ARC-170 from the Star Wars Miniature Battles figure as well as the Power of the Force Luke’s Snowspeeder. I still might even get a bunch of Snowtroopers and Hoth Troopers. I also want to get the All Your Base set from Monsterpocalypse and maybe even a few more of Monsterpocalypse Now. I’m definitely hoping to pick up a Voltron set.
I am also hoping to work away at the Cheapass games as well as pick up a few new games.
Since I don’t have the game room I hoped I would, I don’t have the incentive to chase down the Heroclix big figures as I don’t have anywhere to display them. The storage unit does allow me to pick up some more goodies and store them away - but it's not quite the same.

Heroclix etc overview
While I did pick up a few Heroclix last year, and picked up a brick of two of the three sets released – Brave and the Bold and Web of Spider-Man, I haven’t yet picked up a brick of DC 75. I do like the DC characters – it just seems that if I pass on a brick, it seems to be a DC one. I did also pick up the Watchmen set – also a DC.
I finished no Heroclix sets. I’m a bit closer but basically where I was last year – even a bit behind due to the new sets.
I’m still deciding if I’ll pick up a brick of the last set otherwise I have DC 75 (33/11).
Right now, I need 245 figures – 140 REVs and 105 U/SRs. This is over the 200 figures I was hoping to stay under and for the first time since 2008 I am over 100 Uniques/Super Rares. A brick would have brought both of these closer.
I didn’t manage to pick up any more big figures, but have Dr Manhattan on order for spring. I am not sure how many sets are coming out this year. I hope to keep up with the sets, ending the year back under 200 figures and getting the Uniques/Super Rares back under 100 figures. I’m still hoping to get the Spectre, one of the Fooms and maybe a Phoenix as well as at least one Manhattan.
On Horrorclix, I finally got the last regular figure I needed to come my basic sets. I only need 1 LE and would like another map from the Cthulhu set. I easily achieved my goal there and would like to finish these off and put them behind me.
Where did I spend my money instead of Heroclix? I added a few more sets to the Starship Troopers miniature, finished the first two sets of Monsterpocalypse, and am now down to only 1 extra figure on Star Wars Miniature Battles. I also got back into 40K, picking up 33 codices including the Sisters of Battle rules from the second edition. I also got Armageddon, Cityfight, and Eye of Terror from third edition. Also, I bought a lot of bits – both a horde of Orks and started getting my Tyranids back up to a viable level.
I hope to get more Tyranids, and more codices – being caught up on the rest of the fourth editions I am missing. I also plan to get the Babylon 5 Call to Arms books and some of the Starship Troopers RPG books I am missing. As well, I am thinking about picking up the FASA rules and books to Crimson Skies. While these will cut into my budget, I still hope to peg away at the older Heroclix sets and maybe even grab a few more big figures – especially if I have a game room to display them.

Heroclix overview
Instead of focusing on Heroclix last year, I worked away at a few other systems – Starship Troopers, Monsterapocalypse, and Horrorclix. So I didn’t get as much filled in as I had hoped. Plus, one of my best sellers on ebay became flakey about halfway through the year. Still, I did meet some of last year’s goals.
I only managed to finish off one set – finally getting the Magog I needed to complete Unleashed. I’m still close on Ultimates (6+7), Mutant Mayhem (3+9), Legacy (6+11), Fantastic Forces (0+3), Armor Wars (11+1), Collateral Damage (8+1), Supernova (10+0), Avengers (0/3), Justice League (0/7), Mutations & Monsters (1/6), Crisis (0/12), Secret Invasion (2/7) and Arkham Asylum (0/8). I’m still working away at Sinister (21+3) and Origin (23+0). A new set finally came out in November and I picked up a brick and have a good amount of Hammer of Thor (11+8). Right now, I need 188 figures – 102 REVs and 86 U/SRs.
I didn’t manage to pick up any more big figures, but did get Thor’s Mighty Chariot when it came out last September. They are planning to release 3 more sets this year. I hope to keep up with the sets, ending the year still under 200 figures and keeping the Uniques/Super Rares under 100 figures. I’m still hoping to get the Spectre, one of the Fooms and maybe a Phoenix.
On Horrorclix, I greatly exceeded my goals. I completed the base set and Freakshow
(I just need one card). I only need 1 figure from The Lab and 3 figures from Nightmares plus 1 LE. I’m hoping to either be down to the 1 SR from Nightmares that I need or even finish the entire set.

Hammer of Thor - thoughts
I got my brick of the new Neca/Wizkids Hammer of Thor on Friday. It was nice in that the buy-the-brick figure, Surtur, was given to me right at that point and I didn’t have to mail away for it. We opened the lot on Saturday. The set looks nice – the figures are nicely sculpted. I do have a bit of an issue with the new click base – there’s not much to turn the base with without stressing on the figures legs. I found a lot of the stickers weren’t nicely lined up with the base window – but as the adhesive is still fresh, it’s a simple matter of opening up the base and repositioning it.
There were none of the Battlefield Conditions, Bystanders, Objects, or Feat cards in my set. Personally, I was never a big fan of the feats – I didn’t mind the Bystanders or Objects. The distribution seems fine – I got a brick of 10 boosters, each with 5 figures. Out of a 60 figure set I ended up with 41 figures and 8 duplicates. I also got one of the chase figures – in a booster with the 4 super-rares from the brick. I don’t know if this is how they are normally distributed or if they are normally apportioned through the boosters instead.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with this set. The Thorbuster Iron Man chase figure is certainly a pleasant surprise. The figures are nice and the mix of figures in the set seems to cover a bunch of new faces – the Runaways, the Warriors Three, Starlord, and even Bug (from the Micronauts). I’m not impressed with the new bases but I can work with that. Since this one was already in the planning from last year, before Wizkids being sold, Neca probably didn't have too much influence on it's design. We’ll have to see how the next two sets pan out.
Also – they’ve finally got around to updating the WizKids site with the new gallery from the new set.

It's Hammer Time!
The new Heroclix set is finally being released - after about a year. Check out the flyer. It's called Hammer of Thor so it's mostly Thor and Runaways. The Surtur Brick figure is supposed to be at the stores instead of being a mail-away. I'm hoping to get a brick this weekend so I'll let you know my thoughts.

Wizkids at NECA
It's definately official - NECA has acquired Wizkids. They have updated their website with the new info. They have the Clix lines as well as the pocketmodel lines. We'll see what they do with the rest.
The Hammer of Thor set is officially supposed to come out November 18 with a new Buy-The-Brick figure - Ragnarok Surtur. With the Chariot of Thor being sold already, we figured that they might offer a different incentive. My Chariot came in the mail from ebay this week.

The Hammer of Thor!
So it sounds like NECA has indeed bought up WizKids. The main site hasn’t been updated but there is news here and here. The long delayed Hammer of Thor set that was originally scheduled for November last year and then there was talk of them releasing it in March of this year. When that went by there was word of a possibility of being released at Gencon.
Now it seems to be rescheduled for November. So I’ve got to start saving up for a brick now.

The Goats of Thor

So after a few hopeful months we still haven’t heard of a buyer for Wizkids. There was some talk about a group but it fell through when they looked closer at the financing.
Then there was some talk about Tops releasing the next set – Hammer of Thor – at GenCon. With ComicCon last weekend, Neca was selling the Thor’s Mighty Chariot – which was supposed to be the Buy-the-Brick figure for the set. They are also taking pre-sales at Amazon for Aug 15. This had led to some speculation if Neca has picked up the license or if they just bought out the stock of boxed figures. Since I won’t be at GenCon again this year, I will have to wait and see.
I did win some more figs on ebay and now have the rest of the Arkham Asylum basic figures on their way to me. I even have a few of the Super-Rares coming as well. Still no luck yet on acquiring any of the other big figures I still need.

Magog Unleashed no more
I finally got a Magog to complete my Heroclix Unleashed set. This one was a long time coming. Unleashed was one of the last sets that I got when I was still buying cases. I didn’t get any of the Universe set and only a few of Ultimates and Mutant Mayhem. By the time Legacy came out, I was no longer buying Heroclix.
I stopped judging around that time. The addition of the cards – Feats and Battlefield Conditions didn’t really appeal to me. I felt it made the game much more complex than it needed to be. I didn’t mind the Bystanders though – they were similar to the figures from Crimson Skies. The objects were also okay.
I didn’t get back into Heroclix until I ran across Icons on sale while in the States. Since it was a smaller set, I picked up some. I then got into it again starting with Supernova and carrying through the Heralds of Galactus and Slaves of Starro events. I tend to skip buying DC in bricks though – I didn’t get many Arkham or Crisis.
Since the future of Heroclix itself is still in flux, I’m whittling away at my need list. I’ve also got a case of Horrorclix Nightmares supposedly making it’s happy way to me.
With catching up on my Heroclix figures, I’ll still have a few Horrorclix (notably the Freakshow set) and Starship Troopers figures to get, but both of those are finite lists.

Heroclix - 2009 goal
Even though our dollar faded near the end of the year, I was still able to make great progress at filling in my Heroclix sets. I added Infinity Challenge, Clobbering Time, Indy, and Critical Mass to the completed sets. I’m now close on Unleashed (0+1), Ultimates (9+7), Mutant Mayhem (4+9), Legacy (9+11), Fantastic Forces (3+4), Armor Wars (17+1), Collateral Damage (10+1), Supernova (12+0), Avengers (0/4), Justice League (0/7), Mutations & Monsters (1/6), Crisis (0/12), and Secret Invasion (3/7). I’m still working away at Sinister (27+3), Origin (23+2), and Arkham Asylum (34/12).
I have the 2007 Galactus, the Starro, and the ComicCon Fin Fan Foom.
Right now, I still need 239 figures – 152 REVs and 87 U/SRs. This easily clears my goal for last year.
With the future of Heroclix up in the air right now, I’ll set my goals modestly for this year – not knowing how many new sets will be released (between 0 and 4). By the end of the year, I want to be under 150 to 200 figures (depending on if any new sets get released) keeping the Uniques/Super Rares under 100. I’d like to get the Spectre, one of the Phoenix’s, as well as at least another of the Fooms.
With no new Horrorclix sets coming out, I’d like to finish at least the base set and The Lab and get some of Freakshow and Nightmares. I’m at 170 figures right now – I’d like that to be under 100 by next year.

save Heroclix
The new word from saveheroclix seems to be that Pinata and Catalyst are joining forces – with Catalyst looking for the entire WizKids Lines and Pinata handling just the HeroClix part of it.
More power to you both if you can pull this off. Especially if it doesn't change the heroclix line too dramatically again.
